DEGREE SHOW PLANS
With the presentation for the degree show in mind, I have been questioning my stance on the classic 'white wall' gallery space. Taking inspiration from artist Francelise McGurn, I have taken the painting beyond the canvas - picking colours, similar and contrasting, to extend the painting. Whilst only responding in paint, I want to create an immersive environment and to create space through the canvas itself.
EXTENDING THE PAINTING
Digitally manipulated compositions.
I was meant to be sharing the Mezzanine space with Lilith Piper who, as part of her work, was going to make a stone circle installation in the room. Responding to this, I was going to sit my paintings on stones to involve the works with one another, across the room. Taking inspiration from artists such as Tiziana La Melia (apples) and Chris Offili (elephant dung) I was looking at alternative ways to display work, having them propped rather than hung.
